The Cambridge Dictionary gives two definitions of this important subject:
1) policies, behaviours, rules, etc. that result in a continued unfair advantage to some people and unfair or harmful treatment of others based on race
2) harmful or unfair things that people say, do, or think based on the belief that their own race makes them more intelligent, good, moral, etc. than people of other races
This training, organised by our equalities officer, Simone Gilliatt and expertly delivered by Monique Forbes-Broomes, went through all the major points and pitfalls, including accidental racism based on long-held beliefs. It was a highly informative session.
