FAQ – Our Town Festival
How does Booking Tickets work?
Select the tickets you’d like to purchase, and click on the cart to confirm your booking and pay.
Ticket Types
There are two types of tickets sold – weekend tickets covering all performances and venues, or event-specific tickets that allow access to only the performance specified. Not all events will have performance-only access. (Event means performance or workshop)
Weekend Tickets
After you complete the purchase of your tickets we will email you a booking reference. You should bring this booking reference with you to the festival and exchange it for your festival wristband. For details see FAQ – How do I obtain my festival wristband? We recommend printing or downloading a copy (such as a screenshot) as there may not be internet connectivity at the festival box office. Weekend ticket holders have access to all performances subject to venue capacity.
Event-Specific Tickets
After you complete the purchase of your tickets we will email you a booking reference that will act as an e-ticket You should bring this booking reference with you to the venue to gain admission. We recommend downloading a copy (such as a screenshot) as there may not be internet connectivity at the festival box office. Here, an event is either a performance or workshop.
Who needs a ticket?
You need a ticket for anyone. For those under 16, tickets are free with a paying adult.
Can I buy a concession ticket?
We are offering a discount on some tickets to anyone in the following categories with the appropriate evidence.
Concession | Evidence |
---|---|
Low Income – anyone on a means tested benefit or similar restricted income | An award letter from the DWP or similar |
Over 65 | You may need to provide proof of your age |
Students – Any full-time or part-time students | NUS or equivalent Student Card |
Local Residents | A utility bill or photo-ID with TF13 postcode in the name of the booking reference |
Accessibility
Accessibility is good at all venues; see details under Access on the main menu
Can my carer come to the festival?
YES! If you require a carer to assist you attending the festival please purchase yourself the ticket you require, and then when you either
- come to the festival box office to collect your wristband (weekend/day tickets only)
- or go to a venue if you have purchased individual performances/workshops
Ask your carer if they can come with you. We’ll sort them out a matching wristband or seat.
How do I obtain my festival wristband?
After you arrive at the festival, you will need to visit the Booking Office in Priory Hall to obtain your festival wristbands. We will ask you for your booking reference, address and proof of any concessions and then hand you your festival wristbands. These will allow entry into all of the festival events, subject only to available space. If you ordered online, we will scan your e-ticket.
Can you keep me updated on the festival?
YES! If we need to tell you something about your booking we will send an email to the email address you used when you booked.
You can sign-up to receive our occasional newsletter, or opt in to the mailing list as part of the purchase process.
I don’t have an email address / My email address has changed
We keep the email address you provided as part of your booking in case we need to send you any updated information about your booking. If you no longer have access to an email account you used for the booking, please contact info@gawiefest.co.uk or use our contact form.
What data do you store and how can I opt out?
As part of the booking process, you will need to give us some of your personal data including name, address and email. We will store this information securely in order to send you any important information about your booking or the festival. We will store data to contact you about new events unless you opt out or ask for your data to be removed. We are GDPR compliant and will never sell your data. Please see our Privacy Policy
What happens with photographs and videos taken at the festival?
This is a festival and people will be taking photographs and videos, in which you may appear, and which will almost certainly end up on social media, on this website, or in other future promotional material. We cannot guarantee that you will not be included in such photos or videos and accept no liability for such use. By buying a ticket and attending the festival you are consenting to this (see our full terms). This applies to the attending public, but also to non-officials and officials of the festival.
Official photographers and videographers will be present and try their best not to spoil your enjoyment. They will have lanyards, identifying them.
Can I record some or part of a performance?
On indoor performances, strictly NO unless permission has been given by an official. This applies to audio and video recording.
Why Not?
- Firstly, you will miss the moment
- It violates copyright laws and the performers rights
- It is bl**dy annoying to people sat behind you; why would you be so selfish?
Violators may be asked to leave the show if they continue to record.
Can I take photographs in a performance?
On indoor performances, strictly NO unless permission has been given by an official.
Can I bring my Dog?
We love dogs, too, but as we are using town facilities, only service dogs are allowed in venues; well-behaved dogs and owners ARE permitted in the pottery. For outside performances in public areas dogs are welcome, of course.
Giraffes are only permitted outside due to door-height restrictions.
What accommodation is available?
This is a town festival and we cannot offer our own accommodation facilities like we do in our summer field festival. We suggest a look at Visit Much Wenlock’s Accommodation pages
What about Motorhomes, Campervans and Caravans?
This is a town festival and we cannot offer our own camping facilities. We suggest a look at Visit Much Wenlock’s Accommodation pages where there are nearby camping sites.
Same applies to tenters, but WHY would you camp in a tent in in October? 😂😊
Are there any good walks around the town?
There are extensive walks along Wenlock Edge past old mines, lime kilns, open woodland to Medieval manors. Heading through Much Wenlock the Shropshire Way also links to Ironbridge (approx 6 miles), The Wrekin and onwards. The Booking Office staff may have a few ideas!
For more information about Much Wenlock, see HERE
