What Else We Are

Get a Word in Edgeways is not just a Storytelling Festival. It is a registered CIC (Community Interest Company), involved with education, community involvement and celebrations of who we, the community, are. We are a not-for-profit organisation.

We are directly involved in a number of other activities and initiatives too.

Following our small local festival & events in 2022, we are now running a Lottery Heritage-funded project to Forge Links with
neighbouring Wolverhampton & Telford for a Forging Links Festival in 2024 to bring our communities together, celebrating our diversity & shared geographical heritage. This will be at Stokes Barn, in Much Wenlock and activities within those communities throughout the year. To accomplish this, we are appointing 3 engagement coordinators and an Inclusion & accessibility coordinator.

Through pre festival engagement activities of poetry, spoken word, writing, comedy & storytelling we will build on our relationship with local rural schools & develop relationships with schools in Telford & Wolverhampton & also community groups with a particular focus on young people, families & children.

Step Up Commission

We have partnered with the College of Storytelling at House of the West Wind, and the Alan Whitaker Foundation to provide mentoring, funding and support for an emerging wordsmith.

Tales of a Commonwealth

A Platinum Jubilee project that brought together artists from India, Trinidad, South Africa, Scotland and England to deliver workshops, events in and around Much Wenlock, and finally to create a unique blended performance that was performed live and also delivered online.
